In this 2026 live-action adaptation of the 2016 animated film, Moana (Catherine Laga'aia) is the adventurous daughter of Chief Tui and his wife Sina on the island of Motunui. Prompted by a summons from the ocean, she leaves her home for the first time, venturing past the island's reef to save her people from a spreading blight by restoring the heart of the goddess Te Fiti. Along the way, she is joined by the shape-shifting demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in mastering wayfinding and overcoming obstacles.
